Meet The Team

Oli Maxwell

European Specialist in Bovine Health Management   


Oli is the clinical director of Green Counties Vets. He qualified from Liverpool vet school in 2008 and has worked solely in farm practice ever since, first in Cheshire and then Derbyshire. He also has a degree in Agriculture and Animal Science from the University of Newcastle, a Master’s degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Nottingham and he holds the European Diploma in Bovine Health Management; the highest qualification awarded to cattle vets.   


Oli is a Royal College Recognised Specialist in Cattle Health and Production, the only one in clinical practice in the South East. His specific areas of research and expertise are dairy cow lameness, calf health and farm data monitoring and he has presented on these topics, both nationally and internationally, at cattle conferences.   


Oli is on the Nottingham University Dairy Innovation Group steering committee, assesses graduate training for Liverpool University as well as having research links with Nottingham University.  


In his limited spare time Oli tries to maintain skiing legs and likes to obsess over anything powered by an engine.   

Edward Hayes  


BVetMed DBR MRCVS  

RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Bovine Reproduction 


Ed Hayes qualified from Royal Veterinary College, London in 2003 and worked in farm practice from 2003 to 2015 in the South East initially and then Cheshire and various parts of the South West. During this time he gained a Master’s Degree in Bovine Reproduction (DBR) from the University of Liverpool, bringing together areas of his main clinical interest, dairy cow fertility. Ed is an RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Bovine Reproduction and has published several papers in this area. 


Having worked in a number of dairy areas in the UK Ed has had the opportunity to work with a large range of different farm sizes and systems and thoroughly enjoys the challenge of working with new clients and discussing their aims and priorities. Ed is currently working towards a PhD at Nottingham University in evidence and data related to dairy cow fertility and works for several other industry bodies in an advisory and teaching capacity. 


Ed is thoroughly enjoying working with Oli on a part time basis keeping up to date with clinical practice and rediscovering his love for the South East. 

Charlie Hockings


BVetMed MRCVS 


Charlie graduated from the Royal Vet College in 2018.  She went straight into farm practice down in 

sunny Cornwall for 2 years and developed her dairy skills along with a taste for pasties and surfing.  


Charlie moved to West Sussex in 2020 and is particularly interested in all aspects of herd health, infectious diseases and nutrition.


Outside of work Charlie loves playing cricket for the local team, baking and farming.
